



Harry M. Markowitz, PhD
Harry M. Markowitz is best known for winning the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences in 1990 for his work on portfolio selection. In his distinguished career, Dr. Markowitz has served in various academic posts at many universities, including Baruch College, London School of Economics, London Business School, University of Tokyo, Rutgers University, Hebrew University, the Wharton School and UCLA. He is also a board member (and former president) of the American Finance Association and was a fellow of the Econometric Society. Recognized as the founder of Modern Portfolio Theory and one of the nation’s best known minds in finance, Dr. Markowitz is a professor of finance in the Rady School of Management at UC San Diego. He is also president of the Harry Markowitz Company and has also worked for companies such as IBM and the Rand Corporation. He received his PhD in economics from the University of Chicago.

Meir Statman, PhD
Meir Statman is the Glenn Klimek Professor of Finance at the Leavey School of Business, Santa Clara University. His research focuses on behavioral finance. He attempts to understand how investors and managers make financial decisions and how these decisions are reflected in financial markets. His research has been published in The Journal of Finance, The Journal of Financial Economics, Financial Analysts Journal, and The Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, among others. Dr. Statman’s research has been supported by grants from the National Science Foundation, the Research Foundation of the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts, and the Dean Witter Foundation. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Journal of Portfolio Management and the Journal of Investment Consulting and a recipient of a Batterymarch Fellowship and a Graham and Dodd Award. He received his PhD from Columbia University and his BA and MBA from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Sanjiv Das, PhD
Sanjiv Das is Professor of Finance and Associate Dean for Faculty Development at Santa Clara University's Leavey School of Business. He previously held faculty appointments as Associate Professor at Harvard Business School and UC Berkeley. He holds post-graduate degrees in Finance (MPhil and PhD from New York University), Computer Science (MS from UC Berkeley) and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He did undergraduate work in Accounting and Economics (University of Bombay, Sydenham College) and is also a qualified Cost and Works Accountant. He is an associate editor of Management Science, senior editor of The Journal of Investment Management and co-editor of The Journal of Derivatives. Prior to being an academic, he worked in the derivatives business in the Asia-Pacific region as a Vice President at Citibank. His current research interests include the modeling of default risk, algorithms for harvesting financial information from the web, derivative pricing models, portfolio theory and venture capital.

Al Steele
Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Steele is the founder of Bellatore and responsible for the overall strategy of the company. He is the past President of Loring Ward Advisor Services, a turnkey asset management firm serving a network of more than 500 independent registered investment advisors. He is also the former President and CEO of the SA Funds Investment Trust, an investment trust managing more than $2 billion assets through six individual funds. Mr. Steele’s industry experience spans over ten years with various senior management roles in the U.S. and Canadian financial services industry, including senior executive roles with Loring Ward International and Assante Asset Management. He is a member of Vistage, the world’s largest CEO membership organization, and an Advisory Board member of the International Institute for Global Leadership.

Jonathan Scheid
President & Chief Investment Officer
Mr. Scheid leads Bellatore's investment efforts and serves as President of Bellatore Financial, Inc. Prior to joining the firm in 2006, Mr. Scheid was the past Vice President of Investment Policy, Marketing and Research for Loring Ward Advisor Services, a division of LWI Financial Inc. In his nine years with the firm, he was instrumental in the development of key sales, marketing and research materials and initiatives. He has also served as Vice President of the SA Funds Investment Trust. His publication credits include articles in the Financial Analysts Journal, Journal of Investment Consulting and the Journal of Investment Management. His national speaking experience includes a presentation at the CFA Institute Annual Conference. He is a CFA charter holder and member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of San Francisco. He received his BSC in Business with an emphasis in Finance and a minor in Computer Engineering from Santa Clara University.

Larry Cowen
General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer
Mr. Cowen serves as the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer for Bellatore. Prior to joining Bellatore, Mr. Cowen was Of Counsel to the San Francisco law firm Shartsis Friese LLP, where his practice involved counseling investment advisers, hedge fund managers and corporate clients. He was previously Chief Compliance Officer for a San Francisco-based hedge fund manager and was responsible for managing the firm's regulatory compliance program. Prior to that, he was Senior Associate with the law firm Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Nicholson Graham, LLP. Before relocating to the West Coast, Mr. Cowen practiced law in New York City and counseled various investment management clients, derivatives market participants and private equity/hedge fund managers. He received his B.A. from Binghamton University in Philosophy and Law & Society and his JD cum laude from New York Law School.

Nick Labao
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Labao oversees Bellatore's financial and human resources functions and provides direction and support related to the development and implementation of strategic decisions and sound financial statement policies and presentation. He brings more than 17 years of diverse experience in accounting, budgeting, cash management, business support and financial analysis. Mr. Labao's senior finance roles have included positions as Executive Vice President of Finance at Loan City, Interim Vice President of Finance at Buckles Smith, and Corporate Controller at All Bases Covered and Findlaw. He is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration from California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo.

John Gabriel
National Vice President, Business Consulting
Mr. Gabriel leads the business consulting and in-field support efforts for Bellatore. He has more than ten years of experience in the financial services industry, including eight years working with independent advisors. Prior to joining Bellatore, he was Vice President, Northeast Regional Manager at AllianceBernstein Investments, where he was responsible for fostering successful partnerships with advisors in an eleven-state territory. His previous experience also includes six years of increasingly progressive management roles with Rydex Investments, including Regional Vice President at Rydex Investments and Vice President of Institutional Sales & Business Development at Rydex Global Advisors. He received an M.B.A. from the University of Colorado and a B.A. from the University of Denver.

Hugh J. Murphy

Mr. Murphy has more than eight years of research experience focused in the financial services industry. He holds a BComm in marketing and consumer behavior from the University of Guelph and an MBA from Dalhousie University. As Executive Vice President, his role is to expand the quantitative and qualitative research solutions that Credo provides to the company’s broad base of Canada’s financial industry clients. Prior to joining Credo in 2007, Mr. Murphy was Vice President of the financial services research team at Environics Research Group, where he helped numerous asset managers, banks and insurance companies understand how to better connect with Canada’s personal financial advisors. Previously, he served as a research analyst with Ernst & Young’s renowned Center for Business Knowledge.

Carol Anderson is president and CEO of Money Quotient®. For the past 15 years, she has specialized in issues of retirement preparation, life planning, productive aging and financial planning education. Ms. Anderson holds a Master's degree in Consumer Economics & Family Resource Management and has a diverse background in business, education and financial services. Prior to her involvement with Money Quotient, she was the principal of Carol Anderson Research. As a researcher, writer and consultant, she has worked with a broad range of companies and non-profit organizations in designing studies, conducting analyses and compiling research reports. Most recently, she was a member of the research team for a national financial literacy study conducted by the Institute for Socio-Financial Studies funded by the Fannie Mae Foundation.

Celeste Volz Ford
Celeste Volz Ford is the founder and CEO of Stellar Solutions, Inc., a professional aerospace engineering services firm. Under her guidance since its inception in 1995, Stellar Solutions has become a recognized leader in the aerospace field by participating in critically important government and commercial, national and international satellite programs. Ms. Ford is well known and widely recognized, having served on congressional commissions in the aerospace industry as well as on panels focusing on entrepreneurship and women in business. She is a member of the University of Notre Dame College of Engineering Advisory Council, National Association of Women Business Owners, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and the United States Space Foundation. Ms. Ford currently serves on the board of directors of the California Space Authority and the Women’s High Tech Coalition. Harvey W. Schiller, PhD, is Chairman of the Board for GlobalOptions, a multidisciplinary international risk management and business solutions company headquartered in Washington, D.C. He oversees GlobalOptions’ New York office with a focus on the company’s new business development. Prior to joining GlobalOptions, Harvey was the Chairman of Assante U.S., a leading provider of financial and life management products and services to many in the sports and entertainment industry. Prior to joining Assante, Schiller served as Chairman and CEO of YankeeNets, an integrated sports-based media company; vice president of sports programming for Turner Broadcasting System; and president of Turner Sports. Before joining Turner in 1994, he was Executive Director/Secretary General of the United States Olympic Committee. Dr. Schiller was a pilot in the U.S. Air Force, including combat service in Vietnam, and attained the rank of brigadier general. He earned a bachelor’s degree fromThe Citadel and a master's degree and doctorate from the University of Michigan.
